Under Pressure

Ignaz Technology, founded by 5 university students, are aiming to develop an innovative software that can easily and safely record information about hospital patients’ pressure ulcers and their development over time.

While taking part in and winning the cross-university competition Learn 2 Innovate: The Student Healthcare Innovation Programme, the founders of IGNAZ Technology learnt about the positive impact of healthcare innovation on those within hospitals. After seeing the inefficient and outdated method used in hospitals to record patients’ pressure ulcers, they decided to work on a digital solution called ‘UnderPressure’ to help change this and most importantly aim to improve patients' satisfaction.

“As students who want to work in hospitals and the healthcare sector in the future, we want to be a part of those who implement change and innovation so that clinicians can have a safer and quicker way to work and so that patients get the treatment they deserve.” Frank Davis says, a medical student and CEO of IGNAZ Technology.

By recently winning a grant from Innovate UK, the UK’s innovation agency, IGNAZ Technology aims to start creating prototypes for their idea and start testing it.

Pressure ulcers can be a huge strain on hospital costs and lead to further and more dangerous health complications if not looked after properly. IGNAZ Technology believe that these things can be minimised, and hope their digital solution ‘UnderPressure’ will help do that.
